The 2015 Ford Mustang will be the first truly global pony car from the Blue Oval, with both right and left-hand versions meaning it can go on sale anywhere. One place the Mustang has been perpetually popular is in Europe, though the island nation of Japan has a small but loyal following of Mustang devotees
And when we say small, we mean small. The 2014 Mustang GT “Coupe the Black” Edition will be limited to just 40 units, all of them aimed at Japanese buyers. Luxury Launches reports a price of $50,000, making it nearly twice the price of a standard Mustang GT. But one thing’s for sure; the 2014 Mustang looks good in all black.
Available only with the 5.0 V8 engine and a six-speed automatic transmission, the 2014 Mustang Black Edition gets a panoramic sunroof across most of the roof of the car. On the inside is black-trimmed everything, including the black leather seats, while the Black Edition Mustang rides on black-accented 19-inch wheels.
The 2014 Mustang GT Black Edition goes on sale in Japan on March 9th, as a final, fond farewell to the S197 Mustang platform. With the 2015 Mustang set to arrive on the world stage later this year, Japan is almost assuredly going to get an allotment of the new pony car on local dealer lots. Hopefully, they’ll get more than just 40 units for the whole country, because we’re sure there will be more than 40 interested buyers.
