Certainly no stranger to the Ford Mustang and getting it sideways, self-confessed “hoonigan” and world famous drifter, Vaughn Gittin Jr. wrapped up the 2014 season at Irwindale Speedway on October 12th, coming in third overall for the year.

Not only did every formula drift fan in attendance get a taste of seeing Gittin perform some smokin driving in his Monster-clad Mustang drift car, but also got a chance to witness the introduction of the all- new 2015 Ford Mustang into the world of drifting. The sixth generation Mustang was incorporated into driver introduction before the top 16 began competition.

The only way Gittin knows how, the all- new 2015 Mustang received an official welcome when he drifted his RTR Mustang around the 2015 horse in an epic performance on the course. After Gittin gave an official welcome, he then climbed into the 2015 Mustang and gave fans a sideways and smoke filled show. The crowd went crazy for the newest family member of the Blue Oval, and the 2015 was officially welcomed.

Slaying some tires and generating smiles of all those in attendance, Gittin also helped bring a drifting fan’s dream come true at the event, when that fan was invited onto the course to propose to his sweetheart in front of the crowd. Ending the amazing 2014 Formula Drift season, she accepted without hesitation.

Gittin, finishing the season third overall in the Formula D points, and was excited at the close of the event, looking forward to topping his performance in 2015. We have little doubt we’ll see Gitting behind the wheel of a ’15 RTR next spring when the Formula D season kicks off in Long Beach, we can’t wait to see it.
