The Blue Oval made big waves when it announced that for 2012 it would be bringing back the BOSS 302 Mustang. It would be the first time that the BOSS name returned to American since the last BOSS Mustang was built back in 1970. As a result collectors and performance car enthusiasts alike have been licking their chops, waiting to get their hands on this beastly BOSS. Alas, for now, all we have to drool over are more pictures.
Ford Racing has released more pictures of the 2012 Ford Mustang BOSS 302 and the track-ready Laguna Seca Edition. And these pictures have got our saliva glands gushing all over again.
A quick primer for the uninitiated; the 2012 Ford Mustang BOSS 302 is the sequel to the famed BOSS Mustangs of 1969 and 1970. The naturally aspirated 5.0 liter V8 engine has had its power output boosted from 412 horsepower to 440 horsepower through a new intake manifold, exhaust system, and some special tuning. The track-ready rendition of the BOSS 302 Mustang is called the Laguna Seca Edition, and is everything a racer needs.
Among the modifications is the rear seat delete, a chin spoiler and the rest of the aerodynamics package from the BOSS 302R race car, as well as a roll cage and stiffer suspension. There are nearly 90 new pictures from Ford of the BOSS 302 and Laguna Seca Edition in action and between bouts, so head on over to Mustangs Daily for a treasure trove of even more BOSS 302 goodness.
