For many Baby Boomers, the BOSS 302 Mustang is a legend from their own time, an item many lust over, but few own, as prices for these rare Mustangs have escalated over recent years. Now many Mustang BOSS 302’s cost more than a house, and the only hope for many Mustang fans of ever owning one is to win one. That’s why the 2011 Mustang Dream Giveaway offered one lucky winner not one, but two BOSS 302 Mustangs. One, an original ’69 Model, the other a one-off 2012 Patriot Edition BOSS 302 Mustang.
We imagine there must be a lot of pissed off old guys out there right now, as Mustang Evolution reports that the winner of this generous giveaway is a 24-year old Illinois man named Thomas Barker. After all, what young whippersnapper could appreciate such amazing automobiles?
Hopefully, Thomas Barker is just such a whippersnapper. The recent college graduate and journalism major entered the contest after seeing numerous advertisements for it. The proceeds of the auction will go towards the Healing Heroes Network that funds rehabilitation for our nation’s wounded soldiers. Barker never expected to win, and was shocked when he found out that he’d soon take delivery of both BOSS Mustangs at Ford’s world headquarters in Detroit on August 7th.
Even with the depressed prices of collector cars these days, an original BOSS 302 Mustang can still bring well over $100,000 at auction on a good day. That’s good, because Mr. Barker and his wife recently learned that they would soon be parents. Hopefully Mr. proves to be either a prudent seller, or a good guardian for his classic Mustang. As for the 2012 BOSS 302…well, what 24-year old couldn’t use a new daily driver…especially one with 440 horsepower?
