The new Ford Mustang is one hell of a car, and the new 5.0 engine is making waves in the aftermarket community. Of course, the ultimate track Mustang is the new Boss 302, which bumps horsepower up to 440 ponies via a new intake, and has a track-tuned suspension perfect for carving up the twisties. It really is a race-worthy road car, as any professional race car driver can tell you.

So what happens when the Lethal Performance Boss 302 Mustang meets up with 5.0 Magazine and 2010 Formula Drift Champion Vaughn Gittin Jr.? One awesome Mustang drifting video that Mustang Evolution came across on the YouTube.

The crew made their way down to Florida for Round 3 of the Formula Drift series, meeting up with Vaughn Gittin Jr. (who would end up finishing in 2nd place in Round 3) and 5.0 Magazine to get some footage of the former champ working over the Boss 302. If ever there was a factory Mustang suited for drifting, this certainly is it, with the horsepower and heavy duty suspension designed to absorb this kind of sustained abuse.

While a majority of the footage comes from inside the Boss 302, towards the end of the video we get some excellent shots of Gittin and the Boss getting’ sideways around Palm Beach International Raceway. We’re sure some collectors are cringing at the thought of abusing this poor Boss, but we’re pretty sure Ford intended to have drivers and owners beat the hell out of this car. And if there is anything Gittin is good at, it’s shredding tires and driving sideways. This guy could probably drift a toaster, given the chance, but with the excellent Boss 302 in his hands he makes drifting look like a cakewalk. And this was Gittin’s first ride in the Boss 302 to boot!
