It seems like vehicle manufacturers are constantly updating the looks of vehicles these days. The pickup market has been the most noticeable as of late. The folks at American Muscle had some fun taking a look at what changes we might see on the 2018 Ford F-150.
Frank Bisciotti of American Muscle is no stranger to mid-cycle changes. “Before taking this position at Turn 5, I worked at three Southeastern Pennslyvania Ford dealerships,” Bisciotti explained. “I am very used to the Ford mid-cycle refresh.
“I’ve always thought of this as an easy way for the manufacturer to breathe life into a ‘stale’ design without having to re-tool their whole assembly plant,” Bisciotti continued. “I think I remember reading somewhere that seven new tools allow this refresh to take place which isn’t a whole lot taking into consideration that F-series is one of the best-selling trucks of all time.”
With this in mind, the team at American Muscle tweaked the headlights and grille of what they think the 2018 Ford F-150 will look like. The styling is on par with something that we would expect to see on the next F-150.
“Another thing the mid-cycle refresh allows, at a dealer/retail level, is differentiation/separation between stylings of the 2015 to 2017 model versus the 2018 and newer,” Bisciotti finished. “This translates to big manufacturer rebates and consumer savings on the old model; especially so when the new models start to hit lots. So on one side, it helps the appearance of the vehicle while on the other side it helps the manufacturer spur business by either attracting value buyers to purchase the discounted units or attracting the progressive type buyer to trade in their old style vehicle for the latest and greatest.”
