The muscle car world is not simply an LS-swap everything. The Ford enthusiasts have their own popular engine swap and chassis combinations to work with. Of those, the 1967-1970 Mustang and Coyote 5.0 engine combination have risen to the top of the blue oval pyramid. C&R Racing is there to assist these enthusiasts with a cooling solution to meet the needs of this swap.
Displaying their new 1967-70 Ford Mustang extruded-tube crossflow radiator module, the team at C&R assured us that the unit would fit between the frame rails and mount to the core support with no problems. The unit can be purchased with a fan kit that includes Spal dual 11-inch fans or the radiator as a module by itself.
C&R Racing’s extruded-tube aluminum radiator features a reinforced race fin design that has been offered for several years now. The exclusive, reinforced race fin design is cross-braced for maximum strength and durability, exactly what is needed for these type of modern engine to vintage chassis conversions. As always, the team assured us that this radiator is rated at the C&R Racing 100 psi burst pressure rating. The unit is manufactured with C&R’s race fin, which they claim allows the fin more contact area to the coolant tube and more airflow thru the fin.
In addition to the extruded aluminum tube, the radiator features a hemmed leading edge for a stronger fin. This is to ensure that the fins don’t fold over easily. These features were developed by C&R Racing through their testing with F1 and NASCAR.
