We’ve all broken the speed limit, and we’ve all driven faster than we should have. It happens. Most of us are lucky enough to get away with it with our lives and our cars intact. But it’s always worth remembering that every time you stomp that accelerator, you are propelling a 3,500 pound metal bullet are incredible speeds. Have you ever seen a car accident at 100 mph?
Well now you have. Mustang Evolution reported via KHOU that a man and a woman crashed a Mustang at speeds around 100 mph, tearing the car in half.
Amazingly, both people survived this horrendous crashed and are in stable condition at a Houston hospital. The Mustang, which looks to have been a 2005+ S197 model, wasn’t just ripped in half; it was completely shredded from front to back. The entire engine and transmission assembly were torn away from the body, as was the driver’s seat.
As the story goes, the man was driving the Mustang at speeds close to 100 mph when he lost control, knocked down a store sign, and crashed into a huge metal pole which split the Mustang in twain. The driver skidded, along some of this poor Mustang’s guts, up to the window of a nearby store. The woman was ejected from the car and lost her shoe but also survived the encounter and is in stable condition. It doesn’t look like there is a whole lot left to salvage from these cars, but we bet this guy will think twice before driving 100 mph next time. Hopefully, you will too.
