Everyone is thirsty for 2011 Mustang parts – Superchargers, turbochargers, intakes, exhaust….you name it. The key to complimenting any engine combination is camshafts designed for it. Changing intake and exhaust overlap, lift, and duration of opening has a huge effect on an engine’s performance. Comp Cams has joined the battle by introducing a line of 2011 Mustang 5.0 camshafts for a variety of applications. While those specific applications have not been released yet, Comp assures us their are cam specs for virtually every power combination out there. They have even measured as much as a 60 horsepower gain on their engine dyno!
Anyone use to running modular camshafts will be familiar with the next piece Comp Cams is offering. In most circumstances, depending on how aggressive a cam is, you will need to use either a cam phaser limiter or lockout. The variable valve timing can change the cam timing by as much as 60 degrees, and the limiter kit will drop that down to around 40 degrees to prevent any piston to valve clearance problems. With aggressive camshafts, Comp has engineered a lockout kit that allows for locked-in adjustability of the camshaft timing.
• A wide variety of camshaft offerings in both naturally aspirated and forced induction applications coming
• Power gains of 30 to 60 horsepower have been seen on the engine dyno
• Cam phaser limiters reduce cam timing to 40 degrees on mild to moderate camshafts
• Adjustable cam lockouts give a single cam timing adjustment point on aggressive cams
