Most of us in the United States may have never even heard of an XW Falcon, but Down Under these four-door sedans are a popular platform to modify. Case in point would be Steve Bezzina’s 1970 Ford XW Falcon, which now sports a rather extreme combination for a family sedan. Steve happens to be an iconic racer in the Australian drag racing scene, where he competes on Mickey Thompson X275 radial tires.
As the crew at FullBOOST put it, Steve’s XW Falcon is a crowd favorite that has run as low as 7.08 seconds at more than 203.58 mph in the quarter mile – incredibly quick for a car that weighs nearly 3,750 pounds. Moreover, Steve’s Falcon is still powered by a Blue Oval engine, which makes this Falcon even cooler.
Power comes from a Dandy Engines-built Windsor small-block, which is punched out to 427 cubic inches thanks to a Dart engine block, which was treated with a pair of Satan’s hairdryers (88mm to be exact) from Precision Turbo. The custom-tailored package also features a Competition Inductions Designs custom intake manifold used in conjunction with FuelTech FT500 EFI, paired to a Protrans Powerglide automatic transmission and a ProTorque Converter.
The result of all of this chaos, you ask? More than 2,000 horsepower at the rear wheels. That’s when its turned down with 10 less pounds of boost. Once he turns it up, we think breaking into the sixes may be right around the corner for Steve and his XW Falcon .
